Hawaii Supreme Court Judge Sabrina McKenna to receive Stonewall Award Share:
CHICAGO, Feb. 4, 2021 â The American Bar Association Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity will honor Judge Sabrina McKenna with its Stonewall Award during a virtual ceremony on Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m. CST at the ABA Midyear Meeting.
Named after the New York City Stonewall Inn police raid and riot of June 28, 1969, which was a turning point in the gay rights movement, the award recognizes lawyers who have considerably advanced lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in the legal profession and successfully championed LGBT legal causes.
McKenna is the first openly LGBTQ judge to sit on the Hawaii Supreme Court, where she has served since 2011.

The regulation seeks to expand the monetary jurisdiction of the District and Circuit courts and thereby revoking L I 2211 of 2014
Hitherto this regulation, the monetary jurisdiction of the Districts and Circuit Courts stood 20K and 50K Ghana cedis respectively. However, this LI 2429 has increased the jurisdiction of these courts in respect of claims with stated value to 500k and 2million Ghana cedis respectively.

According to Politico, events are unfolding behind the scenes in the Biden Administration that will result in Joe Biden fulfilling one of his campaign promise the creation of a “commission” to “study” the current status of the Supreme Court and the Judiciary and to make recommendations on possible changes or improvements.
This issue arose during the campaign following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and the nomination by Pres. Trump of Amy Coney Barrett to take her place on the Supreme Court. The Senate went forward with the confirmation process rather than await the outcome of the election. Democrat activists howled in outrage and began to demand that the Biden campaign pledge to support expanding the Supreme Court to add more Justices if the Democrats took control of both houses of Congress.
The Victorian government will soon be debating a “conversion therapy” bill. It has been introduced in response to reports by people of practices they experienced as harmful and traumatic (at the time or later) which were intended to change their sexual orientation or sexual behaviour from same-sex attracted to opposite sex attracted or suppress the expression of same-sex orientation or behaviour.
Historical practices included invasive and non-consensual medical and psychiatric aversion therapies which were abusive and are no longer practised. According to Attorney-General Jill Hennessy, contemporary change or suppression practices include counselling or psychology, formal behaviour-change programs, residential camps, support groups, and religious-based approaches like prayer and deliverance. These contemporary practices are usually sought and consented to by a person who, at the time, wishes to change or manage their sexual desires.
