Around 1,000 vehicles seized for traffic violations during Ramadan  06 May 2021 - 9:57 Photo by Abdul Basit © The Peninsula The Peninsula Around 1,000 vehicles have been seized by the General Directorate of Traffic since the drive started at the beginning of Ramadan, as part of its plan aimed at controlling traffic violations.  The Department has referred the violating motorists to the competent authorities for further legal action against them. The campaign focuses on traffic violations such as drifting, reckless driving, over-speeding, car racing, creating loud noise among others. The General Directorate of Traffic, represented by the Investigation and Patrols Section will continue its inspection campaign to control serious traffic violations and to enhance safety requirements on roads.

Photo / Supplied Bay of Plenty Times The overhaul of streets surrounding the Thirty Eight Elizabeth development are set to start this week. The upgrade of the area, including Elizabeth St, Devonport Rd, First Ave and the lane between Elizabeth St and First Ave is one step closer with the contract being awarded to Hawkins, Tauranga City Council said in a statement today. Works will start on First Ave this week with the installation of a central raised crossing. The streetscape upgrade is planned to be completed in time with the Thirty Eight Elizabeth development.
