James House seeking silent auction donations
HAMPTON The James House Association, Inc. is giving local businesses the opportunity to advertise at their concerts by donating gift certificates and items to be auctioned at the silent auctions.
The James House Concert Series consists of five concerts. A silent auction will be part of each.
A minimum bid will be assigned to each gift certificate or item. The highest bidders will be announced at the end of each performance.
These silent auctions are win, win, win events. The merchants win because they benefit from a low-cost ad. The James House benefits from payment from the highest bidders. The bidder wins when he/she cashes in a gift certificate or obtains a wanted item.

I am a life-long Californian. Born in Los Angeles, I spent most of my years in Southern California with a brief stint in the Bay Area for college. It gets hot here. It has always gotten hot here. Apart from the coast, most of California ranges from very warm to blistering hot in the summer. And Southern California is basically a desert kept alive through imported water and power.
Knowing these simple truths would lead an intelligent person to feel some planning and foresight should go into ensuring the future comfort of 75% of our state. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Our political leadership has continuously failed to take steps to avoid an impending quality-of-life disaster.
