Naturally aspirated is the new air-cooled. Just as the efficiency and proliferation of water cooling squeezed out air-cooled engines, the popularity of turbochargers is bringing an end to naturally aspirated engines. Like the final air-cooled flat-sixes, Porsche s latest naturally aspirated flat-six, with its distinctive sound and feel, seems marked for extinction. To showcase this special engine, Porsche is putting it exclusively in the new-generation 911 GT3, which costs about $18K more than the last. That s a big number to rationalize to your accountant, so here s what you say:

Porsche has released pricing details for the 2022 718 Boxster and Cayman before local deliveries start this fall.
Sitting at the base of the range are the standard 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman that now start at $63,950 and $61,850 respectively, a jump of $600 over the 2021 models. They are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four engine that produces 300 hp and is paired to a six-speed manual transmission.
Those after an even sportier driving experience can opt for the Boxster and Cayman T that start at $73,050 and $70,950 respectively, $700 more than before.
The 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four range kicks off with the Boxster and Cayman S, both pumping out 350 hp and priced at $75,950 and $73,850, or $600 more than the 2021 models.
