STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Bus and subway fares won’t be going up just yet, but motorists could soon be paying more to cross New York City’s bridges and tunnels.
On Monday, the MTA announced that it had postponed proposed fare increases on the city’s buses and subways, citing the economic hardships facing riders as a result of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - 47-year-old Erik Mezick was a wonderful husband, father, and friend.
Mezick left his home in Fruitland, Maryland on Monday around 10 p.m., according to his wife of 25 years, Megan.
He hopped in his Cloverland Greenspring Dairy box truck, ready to deliver dairy products to Cape Charles and Virginia Beach. It was a 130-mile trip, a job he had only had since March.
On his way back north, the family s world was turned upside down in seconds. Mezick driving northbound around 8:20 a.m., Tuesday, went over the guard rail on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, plunging into the bay near Mile Marker 14.

The U.S. Coast Guard said witness told them Mezick starting drifting westward after climbing or falling out of the cab, into the frigid 45 degree bay.

CAPE CHARLES, Va. - Officials are responding to a crash that happened Tuesday morning at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.
The crash happened around 8:30 a.m., at the 14MP Northbound on the CBBT. Officials said the vehicle involved is a two-axle, 6-tire box truck.
The truck went over the rail into the water the east side of the northbound span between North Channel Bridge and the northernmost island, Virginia Beach officials said.
Witnesses told officials that the box truck was traveling northbound just before the second island and was seen going into the water. Virginia Beach Fire, Virginia Beach Police, and Virginia Beach EMS are working together with the US Coast Guard and Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Authority searching for one patient that maybe in the water.
