Yankees vs Mets: How to watch, channel, streaming, lineups

Have you missed the Yankees since Wednesday night’s disaster? Have you missed the neverending chatter about the Subway Series that takes over social media and sports talk radio every time it rolls around? The answer is both is probably “No,” but hey, baseball is baseball and assuming the rain holds off, there will be baseball in the Bronx tonight. Seeking to build off his 3.77 ERA month of June, Jordan Montgomery gets the ball for the Yankees as they once again try to snap out of a malaise. They’ve lost five of their last six games and remain 13-20 overall since sweeping the White Sox in mid-May. The only AL teams with a worse record in that span are the Rangers, Royals, and Orioles none of whom really entered 2021 with championship aspirations. The Yankees are nine games back in the AL East and five and a half out of even a Wild Card spot, trailing even the Mariners. It’s bad.

Mets-Yankees rained out; doubleheader planned for Sunday

Mets-Yankees rained out; doubleheader planned for Sunday Field Level Media Weather is pushing the Subway Series off track. Friday s game at Yankee Stadium between the New York Yankees and New York Mets was postponed due to rain. The teams announced a split doubleheader for Sunday, with the games slated for 2:05 and 7:05 Eastern time. The tarp was on the field about two hours before the game as only the Yankees took batting practice. About an hour before the scheduled first pitch at 7:10, the tarp was removed only to be back on the field with approximately 45 minutes before first pitch. The game was postponed about 90 minutes after the scheduled first pitch.

Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images The Yankees were supposed to begin their annual Subway Series showdown at Yankee Stadium on Friday night, but instead, the fans in attendance were treated to only warmups and later, running exercises from the grounds crew. The tarp came off the field in the Bronx a couple times before the scheduled start time, but once the delay began, it never ended. It took until a little after 8:30pm ET for the Yankees to make any kind of announcement on length of delay, and when they did, they just announced the rainout. The two teams will make it up on Sunday as part of a July 4th doubleheader with the first game beginning at 2:05pm ET and the second at the normally scheduled time of 7:08pm ET. A later report revealed that the Mets declined a suggested two-stadium doubleheader in September.
