Here are South Africa’s IEB matric results for 2020

The Independent Examination Board (IEB) has published its matric results for the class of 2020, with the group achieving a pass rate of 98.07%.
The board noted that the 2020 NSC pass rate is 98.07%, slightly lower than last year’s pass rate of 98.82%.
The board said that all candidates who passed, achieved a pass that is good enough to enter tertiary study at one of the three levels:
88.42% (compared to 89.51% in 2019) of the cohort achieved entry to degree study;
8.14% (compared to 7.91% in 2019) qualified for entry to diploma study;
1.51% (compared to 1.4% in 2019) achieved entry for study at the Higher Certificate level.

Durban - SOME KwaZulu-Natal families are celebrating twice as their twins did exceptionally well in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) 2020 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.
Some even made it onto the IEBâs outstanding or commendable achievements lists.
Eighteen-year-old twins Zenya and Amera Naicker from Crawford International College North Coast made it onto the IEBâs outstanding achievements list with 15 distinctions between them. Zenya with eight and Amera with seven.
Zenya was happy and proud of her results when considering the Covid-19 pandemic. â2020 was difficult, especially being in class and learning online. It was very difficult because it was new,â she said.
Another matriculant Ethan Poole said teamwork with his peers was a great help during the pandemic: “It was difficult through all the stress during the pandemic but we got through it together. Its good to see the hard work pay off,” he said.
Elkanah House had 85 matriculants. They achieved a 100% matric pass rate. The school held a drive-by for students to collect their results in line with Covid-19 regulations.
Executive Head of Elkanah House Vivian Jones said: “Last year was very anxious because we were learning on a weekly basis with changes, we didn t know how this would play out. I am overwhelmed with the matric results I am very proud of the teachers. I believed that teachers pulled a rabbit out of a hat.”
