SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Grossmont College broke ground Thursday on the second phase of a $36.2 million science, math and career technology complex, which will house a new Veterans Resource Center. The project will expand classroom, lab and office spaces for programs including physical geography and oceanography, human geography and social sciences, math and geology. Governing Board President Brad Monroe thanked East County taxpayers for supporting Proposition V, the 2012 bond measure financing the new building and other construction and renovation projects at Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges. “This building will demonstrate to the community that their investment in our college district through the passage of Proposition V was well spent,” he said. “This building will serve tens of thousands of students in the years to come.”

SDG&E launches goat grazing program to clear potential fire fuel

SDG&E launches goat grazing program to clear potential fire fuel Courtsey and last updated 2021-05-06 16:43:08-04 SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — About 220 goats dined on some delicious eats in the South Bay, as part of San Diego Gas & Electric s plan to cut down on potential wildfire fuel. The utility company s goat grazing pilot program launched last week, bringing the animals out to clear brush and other vegetation around electric infrastructure. SDG&E said the program will help reduce potential ignition sources around its equipment. The utility company said it s rolling out the pilot program on a transmission corridor property in Chula Vista and considering other company-owned locations. A local land management company is working with SDG&E to staff the program with goats.

What's in a college course number? Lots of confusion

At Pasadena City College, college algebra for STEM majors is labeled Math 003. At Cypress College, it’s Math 141 C and at Napa Valley, it’s Math  106. For anyone hoping to enroll in the same course at Oxnard College, look for Math R115. At Cuyamaca College, try Math 175. And at College of the Sequoias, it’s Math 035. On and on across California’s public community colleges, courses that basically cover the same material and are recognized as being interchangeable in fulfilling requirements for majors and transfers are assigned different course numbers. That process confuses community college students trying to transfer to a four-year university, critics say. Students may not know whether they are taking the right courses and may inadvertently repeat some if they take classes at more than one community college, either in person or online.

Said Crystal, “I was addicted off and on since I was 14-years old.” Crystal says it started as nothing more than peer pressure among kids. But soon, barely a freshman in high school, no pressure was needed. She was addicted.
