A SCHOOL has undertaken thousands of Covid tests as part of its lateral flow testing programme - and has thanked the monumental effort from everyone involved. Furness Academy in Barrow has completed its third and final supervised lateral flow testing programme. More than 3,000 tests have been carried out since January. Lateral flow testing is a pilot programme of rapid testing which was rolled out into primary and secondary schools earlier this year. In a letter penned to parents, headteacher Simon Laheney paid credit to the students, staff and volunteers involved in the programme in which no asymptomatic cases were identified.
