A car towing a trailer heavily laden with steel took out a large power pole when it veered off a major State Highway near Levin this morning.
The car had multiple occupants, who on first report released by police communications had all managed to escape injury.

Hiking the price of booze and the legal purchase age is crucial to combating the growing burden of alcohol-related health conditions.
That s according to Waitemata District Health Board which has joined other health boards in endorsing a position on alcohol harm.
It s calling for restrictions on the availability of alcohol, increasing the minimum legal purchase age and price of booze. Health officials are also wanting a reduction of alcohol advertising, promotion and sponsorship, along with drink-driving countermeasures.

Wellington City Council have handed out a $200 fine after an irresponsible driver allowed a load of polystyrene balls to scatter across more than 7km of Wellington s south coastline, including a marine reserve. We were alerted to a widespread scattering of polystyrene balls around the south coast last week by a number of complaints to our contact centre, one of which got the registration number of the offending vehicle, a council spokeswoman said.
