Pakistan all set to host World Environment Day today   Published On PM Imran will preside over the ceremony of World Environment Day at Convention Center Islamabad. ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan is all set to host World Environment Day 2021 in partnership with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) today (Saturday). This will be the first time in history that the country will be officially hosting the day, Dunya News reported. On the occasion, Pakistan will make some important announcements related to initiatives that it has taken to mitigate the effects of climate change, including the 10 Billion Trees Tsunami Programme, Clean Green Pakistan, the Electric Vehicle Policy, National Parks, and Green jobs. Only four global personalities, including Prime Minister Imran Khan, have been selected to participate in the World Environment Conference this year.

I am happy that efforts of the country for future generations are being also acknowledged internationally. Addressing the ceremony, the premier regretted that unfortunately international community is not focusing on fight against the challenge of climate change and warned that the issue is a global one and countries cannot save themselves by shutting down their borders. Imran Khan said that Pakistan despite being very small contributor of carbon dioxide, planted one billion trees in KP in just five years despite resistance from timber mafia and now government aims to plant 10 billion trees and it is also working on increasing mangroves in the country.

World Environment Day: Fawad inaugurates Photographic Exhibition in Islamabad June 04, 2021 Minister for Information and Broadcasting inaugurated a Photographic Exhibition in Islamabad on Friday in connection with World Environment Day. Speaking on the occasion, he said the entire world recognizes the steps taken by the present government for the protection of environment. He said the government has been successful in creating mass awareness among the people with regard to the environment. He said the government has also registered major successes in the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Programme. Expressing her views, Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul said we are working on the behavioural change under the Clean Green Pakistan programme.
