EIT Climate-KIC is working with the city of Leuven on Vorm 3010, an initiative that invites citizens to participate in the design of safer and more sustainable spaces for the borough of Kessel-Lo. Leuven is one of 15 cities participating in the EIT Climate-KIC Deep Demonstration of Healthy, Clean Cities, a programme that aims to accelerate the transition of European cities towards carbon neutrality by 2030.
As the population grows in Kessel-Lo, the city is building more schools and houses, and traffic is increasing. At the same time, climate change is already making the summers hotter and drier, which brings a lot of challenges when it comes to mobility and climate resilience.

It has often been stated that societies, civilisations and cities live or die by the infrastructure they build. Many of the current infrastructures across our cities and wider society are no longer fit for purpose. In some cases, they are on the brink of collapse. Furthermore, we are at risk of building the wrong infrastructures for the civilisation of the 21st and 22nd centuries. What are the social, ecological, cultural, economic, physical, and institutional infrastructures that are necessary for this new age of long emergencies?

The Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities Coalition has selected the winners of its Fleet Recognition Awards, highlighting 22 public-sector fleets for their efforts to reduce petroleum use and improve air quality in North Texas. This year the winners included eight Gold Level, six Silver Level and eight Bronze Level recipients.
The cities of Euless and Southlake, and Dallas Area Rapid Transit brought home the Gold for the second year in a row. Joining these repeat winners were first-time Gold recipients: the cities of Carrollton, Dallas, Denton and Lewisville, as well as Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW Airport).
Awards were presented based on entities’ scores on the DFW Clean Cities Annual Survey. Each entity could earn up to 45 points for emissions reduction, 25 points for reducing fuel consumption, 20 points for partnerships and 10 points for outreach and awareness efforts.
