Murphy’s budget speech included a fist-pumping vow to “lean into the policies that can fix our decades-old inequities,” and the scenario that began to unspool in every nodding head was that he was going to finally take sure steps to help New Jersey Transit turn the corner. Instead, it looks like much of the same terrain. While Murphy suggested it was time to seize policies that “will supercharge our reemergence” from the pandemic, he offered nothing but business as usual for this bedraggled mass transit system.

Newark named a Clean Energy Community Wayne Post The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority recently designated the village of Newark as a Clean Energy Community, recognizing its leadership in reducing energy use, cutting costs and driving clean energy locally.  This phase of the Clean Energy Communities Initiative supports and recognizes local government leaders across the state by providing grants to eligible municipalities to implement energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable development projects in their communities. “We are pleased that the village has been designated as a Clean Energy Community,” Mayor Jonathan Taylor said. “This designation helps our community in its long-term vision for revitalization. The Village Board is committed to working toward the goal of completing other high-impact clean energy projects and seeking additional funding from this program.”

Date Time PNNL Energy Sciences Center Will Help Realize Clean Energy Future A new research facility on the Richland campus of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is set to open fall 2021. The Energy Sciences Center (ESC) will feature many of PNNL’s strengths in chemistry, materials sciences, and computing in one building. “The ESC will accelerate innovation in energy research using chemistry, materials science, and quantum information sciences supporting the nation’s climate and clean energy research agenda,” said Lou Terminello, associate laboratory director of the Physical and Computational Sciences Directorate. “This will be one of the most advanced facilities in the world designed for this type of research and will be a tremendous asset for the nation. The research that it will enable is going to play an important part in decarbonizing the energy system.”

Bob Katter says he is a great advocate for coal in Australia. The government is pushing for the inclusion of gas in the Clean Energy Finance Corporation. Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce said he wants coal included too. “There is new technology. You take the CO2, not as a by-product or emission, you take it as a product,” Mr Katter told Sky News. “We want to produce as much CO2 as possible. It is high protein stock feed. “New technologies give us clean coal.”
