LIMESTONE COUNTY – Complying with the health order originally issued by the State of Alabama Health Officer, Dr. Scott Harris, on March 19, 2020, all seven of the Limestone County Commission’s Senior Centers have been closed to activities. However, during this time, the Limestone County Council on Aging Department has continued to serve the seniors in our community, in the following ways:
The Meals on Wheels program has provided approximately 1400 hot meals, 45 frozen meals, and 56 servings of meal replacement shakes per week to seniors throughout our county.
The Council on Aging Department has assisted 339 county seniors with their Medicare PartD Plan, during the recent open enrollment period, resulting in a $120,000 saving on their prescription drug costs and premiums for 2021.
