Belarus, Kazakhstan discuss cooperation in customs

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Bilateral cooperation in customs has been discussed by Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus Vladimir Orlovsky and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belarus Asqar Beisenbaev, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
Vladimir Orlovsky spoke about the organization of customs procedures in the country and the main promising projects implemented by the Belarusian customs. The chairman of the State Customs Committee emphasized a high level of interaction with Kazakhstani colleagues.

Fairy-tale characters welcome truckers at Belarusian-Latvian border
VITEBSK, 30 December (BelTA) – It is the second time the Vitebsk branch of the State Customs Committee of Belarus has arranged a New Year event, during which the fairy-tale characters Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) greeted drivers of semi-trucks at the Belarusian-Latvian border, BelTA has learned.
Drivers crossing the Belarusian-Latvian border at the Urbany border checkpoint in Braslav District and in the Grigorovshchina border checkpoint in Verkhnedvinsk District were in for a surprise. Customs service officers dressed up as Ded Moroz and Snegurochka greeted and saw off the trucks. The New Year event was as successful as the one arranged several years ago.
Belarus Customs to focus on digital technologies

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – The introduction of digital technologies will be the key trend in the work of the State Customs Committee of Belarus, BelTA learned from the committee s newly appointed chairman Vladimir Orlovsky on 21 December.
Vladimir Orlovsky said: “The key task is to clear Belarusian exports within literally minutes and get imported raw materials and components for our manufacturing enterprises processed promptly.”
The new head of the Belarusian customs service reminded that the customs service is experimenting with the remote clearance of cargoes: cargoes are registered in one location while a customs officer in a totally different location takes care of that. Plans have been made to introduce the technology all over the country next year.

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – Vladimir Orlovsky has been appointed Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant personnel decision on 21 December, BelTA has learned.
Up till now Vladimir Orlovsky has been working as the committee s first deputy chairman. The position of the committee s chairman was vacant for more than a month since Yuri Senko s appointment as the ambassador to China.
