Lien Garner inspires her daughter: Northeast Ohio Health Care Heroes Cameron Fields, cleveland.com
CLEVELAND, Ohio Lien Garner was a direct support professional at Our Lady of the Wayside for 16 years, caring for developmentally disabled adults, singing and playing games like Bingo with one of her clients.
Her work there inspired her to become a nurse in 2017. Garner, 35, recently started working at Applewood Centers in Cleveland, where she helps provide behavioral healthcare for children.
“I just love the work that I do,” Garner said. “Everything that I do, I try to just make a difference for people.”
Garner’s dedication has not gone unnoticed, especially by her daughter, Amya Hutchings. Hutchings, 19, nominated Garner as a Healthcare Hero, inspired by her mom’s passion for helping people.
