SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC) - COVID-19 deaths are nearing 8,400 after the Tennessee Department of Health reported 36 additional deaths Sunday. The state’s death toll has reached 8,391.
TDH also reported 4,474 new cases bringing the total case count to more than 685,000 statewide since the first case was identified in March of 2020.
With 610,796 inactive/recovered cases across the state, there currently are more than 66,000 active cases.
TDH data also shows nearly 2,700 Tennesseans are in the hospital battling complications with COVID-19.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - More than 330,000 Tennesseans have received the COVID-19 vaccine as of Friday, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.
Almost 43,000 people have received both doses.
TDH reported 5,557 new cases and 79 more deaths, bringing the state’s totals to 676,039 and 8,311 since the start of the pandemic.
With more nearly 603,000 cases now inactive, there are currently 73,101 active cases. More than 2,800 people are hospitalized with complications.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Tennessee recorded nearly 5,000 new COVID-19 cases Thursday. With 4,983 new cases, the state’s case count since the start of the pandemic is now 670,482.
The Tennessee Department of Health also reported 84 additional deaths, bringing the death toll to 8,232.
Thursday’s data is based on 24,216 tests with a 17.08 percent positivity rate.
Currently, there are 65,367 active cases in Tennessee. Nearly 3,000 people are hospitalized with complications.
