CORPUS CHRSITI, Texas â Del Mar College has a goal of raising $90,000 this year for âBernieâs Spring Bash.â The money raised will benefit six academic programs, as well as the schoolâs Student Emergency Aid program.
The event, named for the late local philanthropist Bernie Paulson, is typically a crawfish boil fundraiser. However, due to COVID-19, the last two years the fundraiser has been exclusively online.
âLast year we innovated, just like everybody. We still had our âBernieâs Spring Bash,â is how we called it. No crawfish, no in-person meetings, but our small business supporters were tremendously generous, and people donated over $75,000, all of which helps students here at Del Mar College,â said Matthew Busby, DMC Director of De

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL FOR GENDER ASSESMENT CONSULTANCY
Millennium Water Alliance with support of Swiss Development Corporation (SDC) seeks to contract a consultant to conduct a gender assessment to understand and generate information on the existing gender gaps, needs, constraints and opportunities of women and men (and girls and boys) in the program target areas of Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Turkana and Marsabit.
The goal is to have a deeper and enhanced understanding of how gender dynamics influence access, control and ownership to water and rangeland resources, and services. It will also identify inequalities in terms of power, resources and opportunities existing between men and women, with implications of any intervention to promote gender equality and related gender outcomes. The Assessment findings will then be used to inform the design and planning of a more gender sensitive and transformative program.

As the delegate, she will represent dental hygiene students from Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi at the ADHAâs National Conference, which will be held in person and virtually this year.
âMy district has chosen to attend the virtual conference, which will take place June 28-30,â Martin said.
âAt the virtual conference, I will get to voice my opinions on policies that will affect dental hygienists and dental hygiene students nationwide and collaborate with other dental hygiene leaders and professionals. This is an incredible opportunity to network, expand my knowledge of the field, and advocate for issues that other hygienists and I are passionate about.â

West Liberty University will hold its annual Day of Giving today, and has set a lofty goal for donations.
“Our goal this year is to raise $150,000 in just one day,” said Angela Zambito-Hill, executive director of the WLU Foundation. “We are pleased to report we have over $55,000 in matching dollars to empower our donors during this year’s 24-hour giving challenge.”
Donors can earmark gifts during the online and on-phone event to go to the academic program, student life initiative or sports team they choose to unlock those matching dollars. The WLU Foundation also will award a bonus to the three programs with the largest number of donors.
