On April 15th, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) announced the renewal of the Public Health Emergency (PHE).
The COVID-19 PHE will be renewed for another 90 days, beginning on April 21 (the date the PHE was previously scheduled to expire) and extending through July 21, 2021.
This update enumerates the key regulatory flexibilities and funding sources that are linked to the PHE, as well as key emergency measures with independent timelines that are not directly affected by the PHE renewal.
On April 15th the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced the second round of the COVID-19 Telehealth funding will open April 29th.

NEW YORK, April 22, 2021 /PRNewswire/ CIT Group Inc. (NYSE: CIT) today announced that its Healthcare Finance business served as sole lead arranger on a $19.3 million loan to finance the acquisition of the Sugar Creek Health Center in Sugar Land, Texas.
The Sugar Creek Health Center, a 84,646-square-foot medical office building located approximately 20 miles southwest of Houston, is leased to a diverse mix of tenants that provide various medical services including ambulatory surgery, imaging, orthopedics, women’s health, dentistry and optometry, among others.

The Black Lives Matter movement, begun in 2013 to highlight the deaths of Black men and women by law enforcement, has swelled to include an honest assessment of the disparities in healthcare between white patients and people of color.
