As the coronavirus pandemic tested the viability of New York’s health care system, Gov. Andrew Cuomo turned again and again to Michael Dowling. The governor has worked closely with the leader of Northwell Health, New York’s biggest employer, relying on him as his chief intermediary with New York’s hospitals, naming his longtime ally to a panel to “reimagine” New York in the wake of COVID-19 and even making a Northwell nurse the first American to receive a coronavirus vaccine.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. â Saratoga Hospital has been designated a Center of Excellence for Antimicrobial Stewardship in recognition of its best practices in prescribing antimicrobials and fighting drug resistance.
Saratoga Hospital is the first in the region, and one of 109 organizations nationwide, to earn this designation from the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Others on the list include Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester in Minnesota, Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and New York Presbyterian Hospital â The University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell in New York City.

ALLEGANY â Absolut Care of Allegany announces the appointment of James E. Sinner as administrator, replacing Diane Jastrazab, who retired.
