Following the wishes of his late father, who was a veteran defending Vietnam s Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, a 51-year-old man wanders along the country’s coastal areas and islands, carrying fishing rods and his father’s portrait.
Since his father s death in 2014, Pham Ngoc Thuc, a son of Hoang Sa martyr Pham Khoi in the central coastal city of Da Nang, has continued the family’s legacy of collecting and providing archives to serve the country’s defense over its sovereignty in the East Vietnam Sea.

Biya is the name of a robot created by a group of students called Storm from the Da Nang University of Science and Technology.

The robot collects waste and answers tourists’ questions.
Trinh Thanh Phu, a member of Storm, said the product is an updated version of a robot that at first only picked up trash on the river.
The students decided to equip it with a new function – talking to people.

Remake of Vietnamese classical opera play enthralls audience

A remake of the renowned Vietnamese classical opera play ‘Son Hau’ has been performed in a public space of an old terraced building in Van Chuong alley in downtown Hanoi. The play has enthralled both senior residents and youngsters as it is a cool combination of the traditional art form and contemporary art.
No fancy stage is set up. Actors perform an excerpt in the renowned Vietnamese classical opera play ‘Son Hau’ in the middle of a public playground. Here, the mossy wall becomes the backdrop while slide and stairs make a perfect setting for the play.
