Altantuya murder shocks the world

IT was a murder that not just shook the nation but the rest of the world.
The abominable crime also put peace-loving Malaysia in a bad light, exposing the vile and dark side of the country when details of the case were told.
The murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu on Oct 19, 2006 continues to be discussed and will remain etched in the memory of many in years to come.
The 28-year-old model was apparently appointed as a translator by Abdul Razak Baginda, a local political analyst who was a close associate of former premier Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak has issued a letter of demand to former attorney-general Tommy Thomas for defaming him in his recently published memoir “My Story: Justice in the Wilderness”.
Najib’s lawyer, Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, said his client was seeking an apology and RM10 million in compensation.
“If we do not receive a satisfactory reply from you by this Friday, our clear instruction is to institute legal proceedings early next week,” he said.

Once more, the highly innocent Najib Razak (read his Facebook) has been shocked and outraged by accusations over his alleged involvement in improprieties, this time the ghastly murder of his ‘translator’ at the hands of his bodyguards.
And again, the former prime minister is dismayed that the legal authorities in the country should move to examine evidence of his role, with a view to potential prosecution. His existing convictions over the mega-fraud 1MDB are being appealed after all.
Most Malaysians know the tragic story of Altantuya’s disappearance and death only too well, erupting as it did on the cusp of Najib’s ousting of the previous prime minister to take his place.
