SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) provided an update Wednesday on the Seymour High School threat situation. Last Saturday, just before 11 p.m., SPD learned of a threat toward a Seymour High School student and Seymour High School. It was posted on Instagram and then quickly deleted.
Investigators with SPD obtained information from social media platforms that led them to Suffolk County on Long Island, New York. With the assistance of Suffolk County Police, detectives determined that the suspect was a 15-year-old juvenile, admitted that he picked the Seymour High School student and the high school at random.

SEYMOUR, Ind Police say a 15-year-old from New York was behind a threat toward Seymour High School on Saturday.
The threat was posted on Instagram and then taken down or deleted.
Police were able to get information from social media platforms and also wireless carriers to track the threat back to Suffolk County in New York.
Police there were able to learn the suspect was 15 years old. He admitted to investigators that he picked Seymour High School and one of its students at random.
The suspect told Suffolk County Investigators that he never intended to carry out the threat and no weapons were found in his home.
Seymour, IN Police are investigating a threat made against Seymour High School. The threat was posted on social media Saturday but was quickly deleted. A strong police presence is in place at the school during the investigation. The Seymour Police Department has not found any credible threat stemming from the post. SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) was made aware of a threat toward the Seymour High School that was posted on Instagram at around 10:50 p.m. on Saturday. The post was quickly taken down or deleted.
Detectives are investigating the threat and working diligently to find the source. Because of the threat, they will have a stronger presence at the high school.
At this time, the SPD has not found anything credible in relation to the threatening remark. Law enforcement is in constant contact with officials at Seymour Community Schools. Extra security measures are in place.
