The US Senate has confirmed Indian-American civil rights lawyer Seema Nanda as the solicitor for the Department of Labour. A former CEO of the Democratic National Committee who also served in the Department of Labour during the Obama Administration, Nanda, 48, was confirmed by the Senate with 53-46 votes on Wednesday. Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus chair Judy Chu applauded the Senate vote. âI am thrilled to congratulate Seema Nanda on her confirmation to serve as Solicitor for the Department of Labour. Whether itâs risks from coronavirus, rising temperatures from climate change, or unscrupulous employers, workers continue to face difficult challenges every day,â she said.
