Census has quietly become one of the hottest companies that VCs want to buy into.  Sources tell Insider that it s finalizing a Series A led by Sequoia at a possible $100 million valuation. Census helps companies more easily use data warehouses like Snowflake in other applications.  Census, a three-year-old startup that helps companies more easily share data among their apps, is close to finalizing a Series A funding round led by Sequoia at a post money-valuation of around $100 million, according to three people familiar with the discussions.  The round was one of the most hotly pursued Series A rounds in recent months, multiple investors told Insider. One investor at a top venture firm described it as the consensus hot investment in Silicon Valley right now, while another said it was one of the top five most closely watched Series A rounds by venture capitalists in recent months. 

Obituary: Robert Lynch, 63, Of Greenwich

Robert Sean Lynch passed away on January 18, 2021 at the age of 63. He was born in The Bronx, raised in Yonkers and has resided in Greenwich, Connecticut for the past 23 years. After receiving his BS in Accounting from Iona College, Robert joined Arthur Andersen & Co and became a partner with the firm in 1990. He was the Head of the Metro New York Energy Industry Practice where he worked with some of the firm s largest clients and led high profile civil and criminal litigation engagements. Subscribe From Andersen, he launched into private equity as the CFO of Ripplewood Holdings LLC, and then went on to be Chief Operating Officer of The Weekly Reader. He then joined Marcal Paper Co as the Chief Operating Officer. His final years working were as CFO of Stroz Friedberg LLC and most recently Mintz Group LLC.
