T. S. Banks is directing a collection of spoken word pieces and monologues in the Loud N Unchained Black Theater Festival.
The LNU (Loud âN Unchained) Black Theater Festival, which debuts on April 30, has been several years in the making. Producer Dana Pellebon says it feels long overdue.
âI was actually the last member added to the team,â Pellebon says in a recent interview. âBut this idea aligned really well with my goals as a director, producer and artist. Iâve been working for a while to create a space to showcase Black theater artists.â
Everything feels bigger in New York City, from the buildings to the personalities to the hype to the expectations.
Adam Fox knew this was true years before he started playing for the New York Rangers. He grew up in Jericho, on Long Island, about 30 miles east of Madison Square Garden, where Fox would cheer them on as a young fan. He understood the advantages and the adversity that come with playing in Manhattan. But he understands them both implicitly now.
As a rookie defenseman last season, Fox slowly gained attention for his all-around play before finishing fourth for the Calder Trophy, unable to match the gaudy offensive numbers of defensemen Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche and Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks. In his second NHL season, the hype has only grown for the former Harvard star: Fox is frequently mentioned as a contender for the Norris Trophy as the league s best defenseman, and he s earning comparisons to Rangers legend and Hockey Hall of Famer Brian Leetch.

Score one for the players. Since July 1, NHL free agents continue to sign on the dotted line for massive amounts of dollars. To this end, Canuck fans must be thrilled with the recent additions of forward Ryan Johnson (two-year, $2.3 million contract), and the ever dangerous Darcy Hordichuk (two-year deal). Oh yes, let’s not forget the brilliant acquisition of ex-Leaf, Kyle Wellwood (one year contract worth just under $1 million), who should fit right in to a team on the decline. But let’s face it; the Canucks are easy to pick on.
Vancouver is not the only team that contributed to this “madness” as many other teams have been making ridiculous offers to lure new talent. I have noted some of these deals (five in each category) in my version of the good, the bad, and the ugly:
There appeared to be some serious road rage going on between former NHL agitator Sean Avery, who was jogging in L.A on Thursday morning., and a car driver.
