According to the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS), the swarming of the Chinese vessels was “prejudicial to the peace and security” in the region.
“The National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) denounces the continuous swarming in the WPS by Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) and Maritime Militia which are claimed by Chinese authorities to be ordinary fishing vessels,” it said in a statement.
“The Philippine government reiterates its demand upon China to withdraw all its vessels from the Municipality of Kalayaan and the Philippine EEZ (exclusive economic zone),” said the task force chaired by National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr.

Major Gen. Edgard Arevalo, AFP spokesperson, said the military has coordinated with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and the Philippine National Police’s Maritime Group (PNP-MG) to conduct coordinated patrols in WPS.

New diplomatic protests filed over Chinese vessels lingering in WPS

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 14) The Philippine government on Wednesday sent two more diplomatic protests to China for the continued presence of Chinese vessels in the West Philippine Sea.
There’s one protest for the Chinese vessels that remained moored at Julian Felipe Reef, while the other is for the dispatch of more ships in the Philippine exclusive economic zone, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The agency earlier warned it would lodge a diplomatic protest each day until the Chinese vessels leave Julian Felipe Reef, also known as Whitsun Reef, 175 nautical miles of Bataraza, Palawan.
