Next week, the school board will have a final vote on the plan. During that meeting more than a 100 teachers and parents gathered to protest the proposed calender change. This causing a rift between officials with East Baton Rouge Parish s school board and a number of area teachers that has yet to be resolved.

(WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Parish Superintendent Dr. Sito Narcisse had to answer to teachers and parents at three separate town halls, about his âSmart Start Plan.â Itâs a plan to move the first day of school to July 28 so kids can catch up in school. âThis is what I believe is what many others, our cabinet, and other leaders that we talked to, will help us to do better as an entire school system,â said Dr. Sito Narcisse, EBR Schools Superintendent.

But some parents, teachers, and board members say they have some concerns about the early start. Most people expect things to be back to normal when their children get ready for school next semester.
