Instruments of Change” online benefit to help the
West Seattle Food Bank continue keeping people fed and housed. Live and silent auctions are part of it; silent-auction bidding is on now, while live-auction pre-bidding starts at 5:30 tonight. You can go here now to browse what’s been donated for the auctions – travel, food, fitness, fishing, beverages, and beyond. Registration is free – go here to get that done. Then watch the event starting at 5:30 pm Saturday – the livestream will be here.
You raise the plants, they raise the money! Three benefit plant sales are happening this weekend:
SOLSTICE PARK: The gardeners from the P-Patch at this park across from the north end of Lincoln Park are hosting their spring plant sale this Saturday (May 15th), 10 am-3 pm:
The sale supports basic maintenance needs of the garden and most importantly funds our Giving Garden. The Giving Garden provides fresh produce for the West Seattle Food Bank. Last year the Giving Garden produced 999 lbs of vegetables, and combined with 255 lbs of produce from individual plots, the Solstice P-Patch gave 1,254 lbs. Last year we were unable to hold our spring sale, which is our largest fundraising event of the year. This is a great way to find great veggie starts and interesting plants for your garden.
So many people have helped the
West Seattle Food Bank in so many ways – donating to food drives, volunteering, giving money. We are now four days away from the biggest way each year that you can support WSFB and its missions of preventing hunger and keeping people from becoming homeless – “
Instruments of Change.” It’s online again this year, featuring activities including silent and live auctions. It starts at 5:30 pm Saturday (May 15th) – you can register for free, and you’ll get the link.
Just go here to sign up and join neighbors and friends in strengthening our community while having fun. (Co-sponsors for Instruments of Change include WSB.)
Scouting for Food door-to-door donation drive is
BSA Troop 284. The troop’s Scouting for Food coordinator
Jennifer Dempsey – who sent the photo – reports that their collection last weekend totaled more than 1,600 pounds for the
West Seattle Food Bank! They had put out flyers the week before in an area bounded by 27th SW, 34th SW, SW Myrtle, and SW Henderson, and then returned to collect. (Even if you weren’t part of it, you can help the WSFB any time – here’s how.)
