Four Good Days (R) Rodrigo Garcia delivers yet another dull, earnest drama about white people living on the West Coast. Glenn Close stars as a mother who takes in her estranged, opioid-addicted daughter (Mila Kunis, looking emaciated with bleached-blonde hair and blackened teeth) to help her stay clean for four days prior to receiving a shot of naltrexone that will prevent her from getting high. The film doesn’t drag, but every argument in this movie feels like something you’ve heard from a thousand other movies about drug addiction. In the plot of ‘Mortal Kombat’, Kung Lao (Max Huang) ends up being assassinated by Shang Tsung (Chin Han) when the villain invades the temple where the Champions of Earth trained for the tournament.
After breaking up with Nitara (Elissa Cadwell) in a bloody scene, Lao suffers the wrath of Tsung, who drains his life energy by uttering the classic line:
“Your soul is mine.”
In the history of the games, Kung Lao is also assassinated, but at the hands of Shao Kahn, and is resurrected by the witch Quan Chi, who transforms him into a vengeful spirit.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, fans like me finally got a new live-action movie in the franchise. Just like the previews promised, 2021’s
Mortal Kombat comes with great fight scenes and a lot of faithfulness to the many characters it includes from the source material. But it also delivers a bland lead and an abundance of clichés. The combination of silly action movie tropes and seriously fun fight scenes result in a middle-of-the-road movie that can be entertaining if you know what you’re getting yourself into.
