Published Thursday, June 3, 2021 3:00PM EDT More than 1,500 charges were laid in Toronto during the province’s six-week stay-at-home order, police say. According to a news release issued by Toronto police on Thursday, at least 1,459 of those charges were laid under both the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and the Reopening Ontario Act. The other 67 charges were criminal in nature, police said, and included assault and firearm offences. “More than 1,500 charges have been laid by our teams, who have played a crucial role in supporting the province and Public Health by protecting the public from the further spread of COVID-19,” Interim Toronto Police Chief James Ramer said in a statement.

Stay At Home Order Expires Today Now What? | 99 1 FM CKXS

June 2, 2021   Ontario’s stay at home order expires today, but for residents across the province, not much changes. The government says all other public health and workplace measures will remain in place province-wide until Ontario enters Step One of the reopening plan, which is expected to be around June 14th. You’re now allowed to leave your house for non-essential purposes, but the options for what you can do remain quite limited. Restaurants and most retail are still restricted to curb-side pickup, bigger stores still won’t be able to sell any non-essential items, and public camp sites are limited to day use only.

The sweeping stay-at-home order implemented by Ontario s provincial government nearly two months ago is set to expire this Wednesday  and Premier Doug Ford has given no indication that he will extend it again (as he has done multiple times over the past eight, dark, locked-down weeks.) So what does that mean for we, the people? Not a whole darned lot, unfortunately, as we ll still be in emergency break shutdown mode until the government says otherwise (it s looking like two weeks.) Health Minister Christine Elliott stated on May 20 when announcing the province s 3 Step Roadmap to Reopening plan that we d likely exit shutdown and enter the new framework during the week of June 14.
