FRANKLIN Franklin Junior High students are planning to march Thursday from Alexander to Franklin.
The 9-mile march, during which students from seventh and eighth grades will chant and carry signs seeking equality for everyone, is part of a plan to raise money to help fund a two-day educational field trip based on the civil rights movement.
The walk starts at 8:30 a.m. and will last around three hours. Students will make two stops so they can have water during the walk.
If there is inclement weather, the march would be rescheduled to a later date.

Deerfield Park District Commissioner - 24 years
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is , and this is what I intend to do about it. Covid 19. I intend to continue full support of our Park District staff who have been outstanding in their ability to pivot and adapt to constantly changing governmental mandates, guidelines, and protocols throughout the last year. They have made the Deerfield Park District one of the most successful districts in the entire Chicago area in maintaining the operation of programs, services, and facilities through the entire pandemic. This support would be subject to the fiscal responsibility requirements that the current Board has always adhered to.
Losses are seldom remembered, but make no mistake: The second half of the Tigers' defeat Saturday in the American Athletic Conference semifinals was the most.
