Nothing is more American than the flawed idealism of rugged individualism, but any ruggedness you see in Denver-located band
American Culture only comes from years of touring, living in a GMC van, lugging that bass cab down another steep DIY basement staircase.
This is DIY music. But it isn’t alone. It’s a culture, a community. One that American Culture and so many of their peers have nurtured, town after town, basement after basement, selling one record at a time, not to “fans,” but to friends. Animals!

One of the Most Evil and Insidious Movies Ever Made
Tortilla Flat is one of the most evil and insidious movies ever made. The screenplay was drafted from John Steinbeck’s acclaimed novel. The subversive film is an unabashed celebration of anti-bourgeois or “underclass values” and behaviors such as improvidence, hedonism, purposelessness, promiscuity, immediate self-gratification of needs or wants, and capricious spontaneity or irresponsibility. The central theme of the movie is a relentless attack or denigration of property, how property ownership corrupts and destroys one’s soul. Property ownership, stable employment in productive work, marriage, punctuality, thrift, foresight, deferred self-gratification of needs or wants, and self-discipline are the destructive middle class values under constant assault. Franklin Fire Marshal Andy King said the fire started on the lower level, rear side of the two-story, historic building. He estimated the building suffered about $300,000 in damage.
King said the cause is still unknown and they are still working with Franklin Police and private investigators hired by the property insurer. Because of structural instability, they havenât yet been able to access all areas of the building to complete their investigation.
âWhile this was a big loss to our community, the damage could have been much worse,â said King. âA combination of early detection and notification, a quick response and solid tactical decisions by firefighters, and the automatic fire sprinklers led to a positive outcome.â
(FRANKLIN TN) A major Saturday morning blaze on Main Street in neighboring Franklin heavily damaged the historic building that housed the Red Pony Restaurant. The Franklin Fire Department was alerted at 4:06AM by the fire alarm in the structure.
Franklin Fire Battalion Chief Joe Polenzani said, "Upon arrival, they observed heavy smoke and flames in the back of the building."
He noted that the fire appeared to have originated on the exterior of the building, at the rear of the structure.& .
