COLUMBIA, S.C. An annual event is aiming to help pet owners in need as well as the animal shelters in Columbia.
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, 62% of South Carolina households own a pet and despite the coronavirus pandemic creating lost jobs and income, pet ownership went up in the US by 10%.
A group of ladies in the Shandon neighborhood has been trying to help ease those costs and encourage animal adoption in their community for the past 13 years.

Last summer, Lake Tahoe s environment and its residents took a beating from both COVID-19 and the influx of visitors looking for a mountain escape from lockdown in Bay Area cities.
This year, both sides of the lake are opening up to visitors, but with a sharpened focus on responsible travel.
The Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority is asking all visitors to enjoy the area but to first familiarize themselves with the new Traveler Responsibility Pledge, which has six tenets that align with local sustainability initiatives. The goal is to advise visitors and residents alike on how we can all reduce our impact on the area and help keep Tahoe blue, clear, and open for everyone.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – One Lynchburg group is receiving a large donation to continue its mission of providing meals.
Red Truck Ministry partners with local churches, bringing food and faith to underserved communities five days a week.
Their volunteers use mobile units to travel to six locations considered ‘food deserts.’
The group received a $25,000 donation from BWXT Wednesday.
We’re told most of that money will be used to buy a walk-in refrigerator and walk-in freezer.

When the new Truckee Tahoe Airport building was constructed in 2009, local artist Carole Sesko envisioned more than an updated hub for air traffic coming to and going from the region. In her mind’s eye, she saw naked walls that could serve as a blank canvas full of possibilities for artists to display their talents.
