How Americans secretly used Soviet aircraft Nobody in the USSR knew that its potential enemy had dozens of Soviet fighters in combat service.
Aerial combat training is an essential element in the training of military pilots. It is for this purpose that the air forces of many countries set up dedicated squadrons, so-called “aggressors”, whose task it is to imitate the enemy during exercises.
Usually, the role of enemy fighters is performed by domestically manufactured aircraft that have similar technical characteristics to those of the relevant foreign planes. However, there have been exceptions to this rule. For example, during the Cold War, the Americans secretly created a squadron of real Soviet MiGs.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) is a far-left group and the second-largest faction in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which is considered the official “voice” of the Palestinian people and whose chairman is Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. While the PFLP’s influence over the Palestinian people has ebbed and flowed, its armed wing is experiencing a rapid revival predominantly due to Iranian support.
Since its inception, the PFLP has orchestrated several attacks globally as well as many targeting Israeli civilians and soldiers, and has thus been designated as a terror group by Israel (1986), the United States (1997), the European Union (2002), Canada (2013) and several other countries.
In an interview produced by the club s media department, Anumanthan spoke of his eagerness to take part in the coming Malaysia Super League season, to the extent that he has been training on his own prior to linking up with his new club. My training didn t start on my first day here. In fact, I didn t rest between the end of my last Singaporean league season and my arrival here. I had started my pre-season on my own, doing weight training five times a week with the Singaporean Sports Council. I could have started training full pelt when I got here, if not for the need to familiarise myself with the team first, especially after my seven-day [Covid-19 precautionary] quarantine, revealed the midfielder.
“Am glad most of my mates returned in good health,” Juuko told the club s official website as the team resumed training for league resumption on Friday. “Now we need to catch up fast because we’ve got a lot coming.
“Personally I am happy with how I’ve performed in the four games played so far and as a team, we’ve managed to improve in each game.”
On how he had managed to cope despite playing with different options at the back, Juuko said: “So far I’ve managed to play alongside Enock [Walusimbi] and Isa Lumu but I can ascertain that both are capable.”
“First of all my goalkeepers have improved greatly from pre-season,” Kiwanuka said as quoted by the club’s official website. “We started with many new players so they needed to get but I am happy the goalkeepers have stepped up, yes we’ve conceded thrice but we’ve improved in each game.”
On how he manages to rotate the keepers for every game, Kiwanuka said: “Experience is key which explains Mathias Muwanga starting but the other goalkeepers in Sadat Mugenyi, Denis Otim, and Chrispus Kusiima know that they have to be ready because they can be called upon anytime.”
With the league taking a break until next February, Kiwanuka now says he will use the chance to sharpen the keepers as they strive to avoid conceding 38 goals like it was the case last season.
