PACE Engineering, the first company to break ground in Stillwater Business Park, is getting neighbors.
Electric Innovations and Maas Energy Works, both Redding firms, recently closed escrow on 15 acres in Stillwater Business Park, paying $620,000 for the property, City Manager Barry Tippin said.
And there could be more new neighbors at the business park.
On Tuesday, the Redding City Council expects to give Tippin the OK to negotiate a purchase and sale agreement with T&S DVBE Inc., of Anderson, on two lots in Stillwater Business Park.
It’s the latest in what has been, amid the pandemic, a relative flurry of interest in the business park. Stillwater sat empty for a decade until PACE Engineering started construction on its new headquarters there last summer.
Wildfires in California already nearly triple the statewide average
Redding Record Searchlight
Even though it s only February, California has begun the year with already more than double the number of wildfires than in the first month of 2020 a record-setting year.
And the number of acres burned on non-federal land last month was more than 20 times the state’s 5-year average for January.
While the rain and snow of the past week may make last year’s fire season seem like a distant memory, the numbers are a reminder that wildfires have become more common year-round in California.
During January, there were 297 fires that burned 1,171 acres statewide on non-federal land, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

REDDING, Calif. – Flights from the Redding Airport to Southern California returned on Friday.
Redding continues to offer one flight a day to San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

The United Airlines route had been discontinued last March, partly due to the impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The return of this flight signals a shift in perspective and opportunity, likely based on the anticipation that travel will begin to resume again now that a COVID-19 vaccine is soon to become available to the general public.
