There is no one to hear the woes of pedestrians. It seems that the pedestrians are totally forgotten in the four-lane work that is being carried out in the city. They do not have a footpath to walk. Pedestrians cannot even walk on the slabs that are fixed for the underground drainage as the shrubs and pests that have developed during monsoon are not yet cleared by the municipality. In some places the slabs of underground drainage are open and there is a danger of pedestrians falling inside. Many petty shops also have encroached the footpath putting the pedestrians to more inconvenience. During the preliminary investigation, it was found that Uday Kumar Shetty from Koteshwar, Ajam from Mangaluru and Rama Poojary from Udupi were the accused in the case. The accused have gone underground and the police have been making efforts to nab them.

The protesters urged the toll authorities to provide relaxation from FASTag compulsory rule to locals living around Sastan. They also asked the toll authorities to provide a separate gate for vehicles that fall under Kota zilla panchayat limits.

This incident took place near Gangolli fish market in the taluk. The arrested accused is identified as Abdul Rahim (30), a local resident. Gangolli police sub-inspector Bheemashankar was on beat rounds duty of Gangolli market, along with head constable Girish. They got definite information that Abdul Rahim is selling cow meat door-to-door near Gangolli fish market. When the police visited the spot and inspected, they found four kilograms of illegal cow meat that Abdul Rahim was carrying with him.
