REIT pays total of $21 million for Northeast Ohio properties

REIT pays total of $21 million for Northeast Ohio properties CoStar The privately traded White Oak MOB REIT paid $7.3 million last month for the 28,000-square-foot surgery center in Chardon. It was constructed in 1998 at 150 Seventh St., according to CoStar. New York City-based White Oak MOB REIT, which owns medical office buildings, is the new owner of three such Northeast Ohio properties. The privately traded real estate investment trust is the new owner of the Southwest Urology Center, 6900 Pearl Road in Parma Heights; the Chardon Surgery Center, 150 Seventh Ave. in Chardon, and Surgery Center of Sandusky, 2616 Hayes Ave. in Sandusky. In a Jan. 28 news release announcing the acquisitions, White Oak said the centers are occupied by a diverse group of surgical and physicians practices and are near hospitals or other health care centers.

The ideal elective surgery during a pandemic

The ideal elective surgery during a pandemic Back in April 2020, it was all hands on deck in caring for COVID-19 patients at our medical center in Brooklyn, NY, where the number of severe COVID-19 cases was even higher than in neighboring Manhattan. The 710-bed teaching hospital had been entirely transformed into a COVID-19 care facility, increasing to more than 1,400 beds, including 400 ICU beds. Apart from trauma, the only patients we were seeing in the ER were patients exhibiting severe COVID-19 symptoms, including fever of 100.5 or higher and shortness of breath.  And patients with temperatures exceeding 101 or having severe difficulty breathing were being hospitalized.
