Grace Technologies has estimated that its new system could be worth up to $10 million to the company over a five-year period as equipment operators rush to save money on downtime, expensive repairs, and maintenance-related injuries.
Drew Allen, Grace Technologies vice president for strategic innovation, said large organizations in high-value industries have long had predictive maintenance capabilities because they use expensive equipment to monitor rotary machines and detect vibration changes in bearings. Grace is one of many companies seeking to translate that technology to a broader market.
Giant Co. receives award
The Giant Co. has been awarded the 2020 Gold Plate Award by the FMI Foundation in the COVID-19 Heroes category.
The new category for the annual awards program recognizes charitable programs that help families share meals together during the pandemic.

Actuated Medical Inc. of Bellefonte and KCF Technologies of State College have been named winners of Tibbetts Awards by the U.S. Small Business Administration for the exceptional successes they’ve achieved through SBA’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs.
“Actuated Medical Inc. and KCF Technologies have leveraged America’s Seed Fund (the SBIR/STTR programs) to advance science and develop and commercialize innovative technologies,” John Williams, SBA’s director of innovation and technology, said in a statement.
Innovation Hubs OK Catalyst Programs Honored by U.S. Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration is recognizing the Oklahoma Catalyst Programs (OK Catalyst), based at the University of Oklahoma’s Tom Love Innovation Hub (I-Hub), and Executive Director Tom Wavering with two prestigious 2020 Tibbetts Awards. OU is the first university in the nation to receive two Tibbetts Awards in the same year.
The Tibbetts Awards are presented annually to small businesses, organizations and individuals who exemplify the spirit and intent of the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs (SBIR/STTR), which encourage domestic small businesses to engage in federal research and research and development with the potential for commercialization.
