WITH a population of 220 million and rising, Pakistan is currently the world’s fifth most populated country. Demographically, it is among the youngest: 64 per cent of the country’s population is under the age of 30. Already socioeconomically vulnerable, the disruptions ushered in by the Covid-19 pandemic have laid bare the state of mental health challenges and inequities across the country. They have also underscored just how far behind Pakistan is from where it needs to be on mainstreaming mental health as part of the national agenda. Despite being a signatory to the Mental Health Action Plan 2013-2030 by the World Health Organisation, Pakistan has until now made little progress either in implementing legislation or addressing the severe dearth and inequitable distribution of mental health resources and non-existent provisions for psychosocial support across the provinces.

China and Pakistan are expected to sign a framework agreement for Industrial Cooperation (IC) during the 10th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPECT), scheduled to be held via video-link this month.
Both countries have already signed an MOU on industrial cooperation and now in the upcoming meeting of JCC, it is likely to be taken to the next level, China Economic Net (CEN) reported on Monday.
JCC is the highest decision-making body of CPEC, which is co-chaired by Pakistan’s Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives and chairman of China’s National Development and Reforms Commission (NDRC). To implement the CPEC project, China and Pakistan have set up a ministerial-level Joint Cooperation Committee on CPEC Long Term Planning. ISLAMABAD: The SAPM on Power and Petroleum, Tabish Gauhar, has developed a serious rift with two powerful cabinet ministers in the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCOE) where an intense divergence of opinion has turned into personal animosity.
Tabish Gauhar, who is currently not attending the CCOE meetings, registered his protest with Prime Minister Imran Khan against the two ministers, pleading that the two cabinet members were interfering in the affairs of Ministry of Energy, top official sources and one of the CCOE members told The News. The PM has also been conveyed that the CCOE has also ordered an inquiry into dry docking of FSRU at Engro Terminal.
Govt to set up Pakistan Logistic Company
Looks to regulate business under National Freight and Logistics Policy
ISLAMABAD:
The government is likely to set up Pakistan Logistic Company to regulate the business of logistics under the National Freight and Logistics Policy (NFLP) of Pakistan.
The Cabinet Committee on Transport and Logistics (CCoTL) had considered setting up a logistics company and formed a committee under the chairmanship of special assistant to the prime minister on maritime affairs to deliberate on the viability of establishment of Pakistan Logistic Company. A report in this regard may be submitted to the CCoTL for consideration.
