The Lagos State Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide, said that 35 commercial motorists had their vehicles impounded on Monday in Lagos for not installing speed limit devices in them.
Ogungbemide made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen after the corps sensitized motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on the need to install “speed governors” in their vehicles.
He said the operation was in line with the directive of the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, who had noticed an increase in the number of fatalities during the festive period.
“We are not going to release those vehicles even after the payment of fines by their owners until they install speed limit devices in them,” he said.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Osun State Command has urged motorists to comply with traffic rules and regulations and cooperate with officers and men of the Corps.
The Command also announced that there will be an increase in its operational activities along all roads in Osun State.
In a statement made available to DAILY POST in Osogbo and signed by the Routes Commander, Agnes Ogungbemi, the Corps Commander in Osun, Kudirat Ibrahim, said the patrol operations will be intensified, with continual public enlightenment.
She emphasised the collective responsibility of all Transport Union Executives in putting their members on their toes to do the needful.

Authorities of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Sokoto Zone has deployed 1,120 personnel in the zone for Christmas celebration.
The Acting Zonal Commandant, Muhammad Kabo, further disclosed that in addition to the personnel deployed, another set of 405 special Marshals was deployed to complement the efforts of the personnel.
The Acting Zonal Commandant, who is also the Sector Commander of Sokoto office, revealed this while speaking with newsmen in his office on Thursday.
He explained that the personnel, as well as the Special Marshals, were deployed to churches, recreational centres as well some flashpoints to maintain the flow of traffic during the festive season.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Thursday assured commuters and transporters that it would sustain the current free flow of traffic along the Ogun axis of the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.
The Ogun Sector Commander of the corps, Mr Ahmed Umar, gave the assurance in Abeokuta in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Umar, who said there had been substantial and noticeable improvement in the traffic situation along the Ogun corridor of the expressway, pledged that the FRSC would sustain this.
He attributed the development to the recently inaugurated “Operation Zero Road Crashes” across the country by the corps.
