Chennai: The Election Commission of India has released the final electoral rolls, as per which the number of voters in Tamil Nadu stands at 6.26 crore. The EC published the final electoral rolls of the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls, 2021 with reference to January 1, 2021, as the qualifying date, on Wednesday.
When the summary revision of electoral rolls started on November 16, the voter population in the state was 6.10 crore.
As per the final electoral rolls submitted by Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo at the secretariat, there are more women voters than men. Have a look at the recent electoral data:

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K. Vijayanand said that there is an increase of 0.90% over the draft electoral roll published on November 16, 2020 under the Special Summary Revision (SSR)- 2021 of electoral rolls. The final electoral rolls were published on Friday.
In a statement on Friday, the CEO said that the total general electors in the draft rolls were 4,00,79,025. However, as part of the SSR exercise, 4,25,860 inclusions (1.06%) and 63,507 deletions (0.16%) had taken place, resulting in a net increase of 3,62,353 electors, constituting 0.90%, over the draft electoral rolls, he said.

GUWAHATI: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will be sending more EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) and VVPATs (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial machines) to Assam for the ensuing Assembly elections slated in April 2021. Assam State Election Department sources informed The Sentinel that these machines should reach Assam within December itself. The machines would be primarily required for the proposed additional Auxiliary Polling Stations that are going to be set up in Assam during the polls. These polling stations have been envisaged due to the
COVID-19 protocols issued by the ECI.
A total of 6,452 additional Auxiliary Polling Stations are likely to come up across the State. The number of such polling stations may, however, go up if the number of electorates increases following the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the draft Photo Electoral Roll-2021 . GUWAHATI: Assam’s young voter and international shuttler Megha Murchana Borah will be the brand ambassador of the state election department as the state goes to the polls next year.
Assam chief electoral officer (CEO) Nitin Khade, who visited the office of the district election officer of Kamrup Metropolitan District on Friday, said being a young voter herself, Megha Murchana will act as a brand ambassador for the election department, Assam, highlighting the role of young voters thereof, read a statement from the district election officer.
During his visit, Khade also interacted with Borah and discussed the importance of young electors for a stronger democracy.

Khade held a meeting about the ongoing Special Summary Revision 2020-21 with the District Election Officer BiswajitPegu, Election Officer (incharge) BistirnaBarua and Electoral Registration Officer of Gauhati East Constituency AdityaGogoi.
