Those of us who call New Jersey home know our state has fantastic pizza. But it doesn t hurt when a revered culinary magazine thinks so, too.
In a story titled The Best Pizza in Every State, Food & Wine puts the Garden State at the top of its list. Connecticut and New York round out the top three. The best specialty food places are as follows: Best Pizza place is Vinny’s Pizza, located at 221 W. Lincoln Highway. The best Burger place is Fatty’s Pub and Grill, 1312 W. Lincoln Highway. The best sandwich place is Jersey Mike’s Subs, 103 N. Annie Glidden Road.
The best drinks specials go to Fatty’s, specifically on Tuesday, according to some of the votes. The best liquor store is Huskie’s Discount Liquor, 1030 Arcadia Drive.
The best Mexican cuisine is Los Rancheros, 2350 Sycamore Road. The best Asian cuisine is Fushi Yami, 822 W. Lincoln Highway.
Touted as the best pizza in America, the owner of Frank Pepe Napoletana in the lower Hudson Valley has died.
Today is a sad day in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut region. The ower of Frank Pepe Napoletana and Pizzeria, Gary Bimonte, has passed away. It is unclear at this time how he passed.
A statement was released by the Frank Pepe family. The message on the website reads:
It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Gary Bimonte. Gary was a wonderful brother, son, uncle, and friend to so many, and he was loved by all of us. Gary was the pride and joy of the Pepe’s family, and there are no words to express the immense void that his passing has left in our hearts. He truly loved and cherished our family’s history, and he was so proud of the legacy that has carried through all these years.
