Are These the Best Donuts in Louisiana? New Poll Says Yes
If you need something to take your mind off the freezing temperatures and the fact that we totally missed Mardi Gras this year, then talking about donuts should do the trick. And like gumbo, jambalaya, and king cake, everyone in Louisiana has a favorite, and usually a different opinion on what s best .
Every year Food & Wine magazine comes out with various polls about delicious foods around the United States, and their February issue is devoted to who has the best donuts in each state. And everyone knows that our unofficial state donut is actually called a beignet .

You have only one rule to remember:
Paczki is plural. As in, “I will eat at least 12 Paczki today.” That’s more than one.
If you’re eating just one, and we’re not sure how that’s possible, then you’re eating a Paczek. That’s singular.
Other than that, there are no rules.

Buffalo is Home to the Best Doughnuts in New York
The best doughnuts in New York state come from Buffalo.
Food & Wine named Paula s Donut s the best in New York State. The family owned business offers hand cut doughnuts, baked the old fashioned way - fresh every day right on the premises.
New York had no idea what it started back in 1994, when a 31-year-old Mark Isreal began making doughnuts with organic flour and Ronnybrook Farms milk in a tiny wholesale-only space on the Lower East Side, selling them for a then-astonishing $1.75 apiece at places like Balducci s and Gourmet Garage.
