Washington [US], April 26 (ANI): Chloe Zhao took home the Oscar for best direction for Nomadland , becoming the first person of colour to bag this award.
She is only the second woman in the history of the Academy Awards to win this particular laurel.
After winning the award, Zhao said, This is for anyone who has the faith and the courage to hold on to the goodness in themselves and to hold on to the goodness in each other. Nomadland is Zhao s third feature film, following 2015 s Songs My Brothers Taught Me and 2017 s much-lauded The Rider . Her next film project is Marvel s highly anticipated Eternals , which is currently scheduled for a fall release after being delayed because of COVID-19.

Washington [US], April 26 (ANI): The 2020 Netflix original film My Octopus Teacher bagged an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.
The film is directed by Pippa Ehrlich and James Reed and it documents a year spent by filmmaker Craig Foster forging a relationship with a wild common octopus in a South African kelp forest.
The movie also bagged the award for Best Documentary at the British Academy Film Awards.
Also in the ceremony, Sound of Metal won an Oscar in the Best Sound category.
British actor Daniel Kaluuya took home the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, for his performance in the Judas and Black Messiah .

Washington [US], April 26 (ANI): British actor Daniel Kaluuya took home the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, for his performance in the Judas and Black Messiah .
After winning the award, Kaluuya made a reference to the Black Panther Party, saying, The Black Panther Party showed me how to love myself. Judas and the Black Messiah is an American biographical drama movie about the betrayal of Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya), chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party in late-1960s Chicago, at the hands of William O Neal (Lakeith Stanfield), an FBI informant.

Washington [US], April 26 (ANI): Ace veteran actor Anthony Hopkins took home the Oscar for Best Actor for his powerful performance in The Father .
This is the second time that Hopkins has won an Oscar in the Best Actor category. Earlier he had won the award for his role of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs .
This victory has now made Hopkins the oldest ever Oscar winner. Hopkins didn t pick up his award in person at the 93rd Academy Awards, reported People magazine.
In the film, protagonist Anthony (Hopkins) interacts with daughter Anne (Colman) and other characters who give him conflicting accounts of the past and present. Like Anthony, the audience has to solve the puzzle of what s real and whose truth should be believed.

Even at the tail end of the Covid-19 pandemic and its associated quarantines, much of the world remains locked down. Holding an awards show in a Los Angeles train station, even at limited capacity and with socially distanced stars, could have come off as tasteless at best.
Yet the awards were actually pretty darn memorable at least until a last-second upset in a major category ended the night on a downer note. They moved along beautifully, and a team led by head producer Steven Soderbergh (an Oscar-winning director) and director Glenn Weiss (an Emmy winner) came up with a show that looked a little bit like a movie that was being made about the very awards show you were watching. At its best, the telecast had a pizzazz and effortless cool to it that the Oscars rarely achieve. And even at its worst, it was still interesting.
