Bangabandhu hinted at independence in Paltan rally on Mar 3

DHAKA, March 2, 2021 (BSS) – Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had talked about independence at a rally at Paltan Maidan on March 3 too ahead of his historic March 7 speech.
On the next day, the daily Ittefaq and daily Azad published details about the rally arranged by Chhatra League and Sramik League.
In the rally, Bangabandhu called upon the people to continue their struggle for independence even if he could not stay alive.
“Even if I die, the seven crore people will witness that the country becomes truly independent. This may be my last speech. If I do not stay alive, the movement cannot be stopped,” Bangabandhu had said.

A thana-level leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League was hacked to death in Singair upazila of Manikganj early yesterday.
The deceased is Faruk Hossian Miru, general secretary of Singair unit of BCL.
Faruk, a former vice president of Singair Government College BCL, was heading home on a motorcycle after attending a programme around 1:00am when a group of at least eight youths attacked him, leaving him critically injured, said Shahidur Rahman, joint secretary of Singair Upazila unit Awami League.
He was rushed to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation in Dhaka where he breathed his last around 1:00pm yesterday.
The district court formed charges against the ten accused including Tufan in February, 2020.
The public prosecutor further said the tribunal today granted bail to Tufan as the case was not disposed of even after 11 months of framing charges. I strongly oppose the bail, he added.
With Tufan, all ten accused are now on bail in the case, added the lawyer.

RANGPUR, Jan 10, 2021 (BSS) – The Homecoming Day of Father of the Nation and Architect of Independence Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was celebrated with day-long programmes and paying due homage to Bangabandhu here today.
The district and city units of Awami League (AL) and its associated bodies chalked out programmes in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in celebration of the historical day of Bangabandhu’s return to independent Bangladesh.
Besides, leaders of the district units of Swechchasebak League, Mohila Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, Krishak League, Sramik League and other associate bodies celebrated the day in a befitting manner.
Rangpur AL distributes 500 blankets among cold-hit people

RANGPUR, Dec 24, 2020 (BSS) – Rangpur district Awami League (AL) distributed 500 blankets among cold-stricken people of the city on Wednesday evening to mitigate their sufferings from the sweeping cold-wave.
President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju with other leaders distributed the blankets among 500 cold-hit people in a function held at district AL office premises in the city.
Joint General Secretary of district AL Motahar Hossain Mandal Mowla, its Organising Secretary Wazedul Islam, Office Secretary Amin Sarker, Publicity and Publication Secretary Latifa Shawkat, Law Affairs’ Secretary Ziaul Hasan, Cultural Affairs’ Secretary Advocate Atikul Islam Kallol, Health and Population Affairs’ Secretary Ershadul Haque Ranju and Acting President of Chhatra League Suman Sarker, among others, attended the function.
