SINGAPORE - More than 1,400 households will be able to monitor electricity usage across appliances in smart-enabled flats in Punggol Northshore.
The 1,192 home owners, about 85 per cent of the total, who had collected the keys to their flats as at Dec 14, were the first in Singapore to live in such smart-enabled Housing Board flats, HDB said on Wednesday (Dec 30).
The 1,402 units are in 12 residential blocks spread across two Build-To-Order (BTO) projects, Northshore Residences I and II.
These flats are equipped with smart power sockets and high-tech distribution boards which enable the occupants to transform them into smart homes.
The smart distribution board allows users to monitor their energy consumption, which in turn enables them to save electricity and reduce their utility bills, said HDB.

The architecture firm behind the design of three blocks at St George s Towers Build-To-Order (BTO) project has bagged a top design award for Housing Board projects in a year that saw HDB name a record number of winners.
Built in the Kallang-Whampoa district, and towering over lower-rise developments in the mature estate, each block of St George s Towers boasts a sky terrace on the 24th storey fitted with fitness equipment and benches where residents can catch unblocked views of the city and the Whampoa River.

SINGAPORE: The upgrading of Hougang Town Centre, which has been refreshed with a fishing village theme, has won a design award from the Housing Development Board (HDB), the authority said on Monday (Dec 28).
The rejuvenation of Hougang Town Centre, carried out by SQFT Architects, is among 35 awardees of HDB this year for design, construction and engineering feats.

This is the largest number of awards given out since the first iteration of the awards in 2008, said HDB in a press release .
