Culprits sought in double vehicle theft and gas and dash

  BARRIE, ONT. The South Simcoe Police hope the public can identify suspects they say stole a Jeep from a dealership, then another vehicle from a gas station before they helped themselves to free gas days later. A white BMW X3 was taken from a gas station around 5:30 p.m. on County Road 88 at Highway 400 in Bradford on Thurs., April 22. Witnesses say a dark-coloured Jeep appeared to be following the BMW as it fled the scene. Then on Tues., April 27, around 5:10 p.m., the BMW was used in a gas and dash at a gas station on Highway 89 at Highway 400 in Innisfil.

Hanover man arrested after allegedly ditching stolen vehicle in Lake Simcoe

  BARRIE, ONT. Police arrested a Hanover man accused of plunging a stolen vehicle into Lake Simcoe in Innisfil. According to South Simcoe Police, officers were called to a Shore Acres Drive marina in the early morning hours on Tuesday for reports that a vehicle went into the lake. Police say when they arrived, the vehicle was empty and partially submerged about 30 to 40 metres offshore. Investigators determined the vehicle had been stolen from Hanover the day prior. Police say the K9 unit tracked the accused to a nearby building that they allege he broke into to hide from officers. He was treated at the scene for a minor injury and then taken into custody.

  BARRIE, ONT. Police arrested a Markham man in connection with a hit-and-run where a pedestrian was struck twice by two vehicles in Bradford back in January. A 65-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after being hit while crossing West Park Avenue and Holland Street West on the evening of Jan. 22. Police say she was first struck by a white SUV and then a grey sedan seconds later. According to police, neither driver remained at the scene. Investigators said both drivers knew they hit someone, adding that the first vehicle stopped, reversed and then took off. The victim spent months in the hospital recovering from her injuries. She was recently released to continue her recovery, police said.

  BARRIE, ONT. Five boys face assault and weapons charges after police say they attacked a group of teenagers at a basketball court with batons and pepper spray in Bradford. South Simcoe Police officers were called to the Alan Kuzmich Park in the West Park Avenue and Aishford Road area on Tuesday around the dinner hour for reports of a large fight. They say the suspects, ranging in age from 14 to 17, ran into a nearby forest where officers arrested them. Police say the accused were all released into their parent s custody with future court dates. Their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Investigators determined that a group of teenagers was wearing face coverings and bandanas while armed with batons and pepper spray. Police allege the group then assaulted another group of youths at a basketball court.
