Mayor Simon Hancock alongside headteacher Clare Hewitt and several pupils Neyland Town Council has awarded a grant to Neyland Community School, for a new outdoor learning project, giving the school children the opportunity to learn while outdoors. The £2,000 grant is the most which Neyland Town Council have given to an organisation, and the very thankful school have been working hard for the new facility for the children. Pembrokeshire Outdoor Schools has played a huge part in the development of the project, and mayor of Neyland, councillor Simon Hancock was very pleased with their work. The mayor arrived at the school and was present alongside Mike Harry, chair of the Neyland Town Improvement Committee to see the update on the work.
An early edition of the Western Telegraph’s forerunner, dating back to 1866, has come to light during a cupboard clear-out in a house in Haverfordwest, and research has revealed it was published just eleven days after the death of Welshman George Everest, who the famous Himalayan mountain is named after. Joanna Warden, 47, of Hill Street, made the stunning discovery of the Pembrokeshire newspaper which was stuck behind the lining paper of her bedroom cupboards. Cllr Dr Simon Hancock, curator of Haverfordwest Museum, confirmed the paper was the Haverfordwest and Milford Haven Telegraph - the forerunner of today’s Western Telegraph.

County Hall, Haverfordwest, has been illuminated on several occasions COUNTY Hall in Haverfordwest is to be illuminated in purple today (Monday, March 8) to celebrate International Women’s Day. Holocaust: Preseli MP to lead annual memorial debate in House Commons PRESELI Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb will lead the annual Holocaust Memorial debate in Parliament this Thursday. The debate follows today’s Holocaust Memorial Day (January 27) and Stephen Crabb will lead MPs from across the political divide in marking the importance of remembering the Holocaust. Despite the lockdown, Holocaust Educational Trust have been able to continue to support schools with learning about the Holocaust as they’ve hosted online workshops for pupils to be able to hear first-hand accounts from Holocaust survivors.
