The European Medicines Agency are preparing to present the results of their investigation into possible links between the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine and rare blood clotting cases later today.
Last week, Johnson & Johnson suspended its vaccine rollout in the EU after the US Food and Drug Administration recommended officials pause its use while the rare food clot cases are examined. Six cases of the rare clotting disorder were identified in the US, out of nearly 7 million people who were given the single-dose jab in the country.

The US is expected to advise against travelling to more than three-quarters of the world’s countries in an expansion of its coronavirus alert level.
The State Department’s level-four “do not travel” alert currently covers 34 nations including Kenya, Russia and Brazil, but officials now say they will extend it to 80 per cent of the globe.
It comes as British MPs are told that hundreds of people are trying to enter the country on fake Covid test documents.

The UK government is set to launch a taskforce to “supercharge” the hunt for a new generation of antiviral medicines that can treat people infected with Covid-19 in their own homes.
Modelled after the team responsible for obtaining the nation’s vaccine supplies, the taskforce will search for and support treatments currently in development that can reduce transmission and speed up recovery from Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the European medicines regulator said there is a “possible link” between Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine and very rare blood clots.

The article, published yesterday, recounted an incident on an Air Canada flight that narrowly avoided disaster in San Francisco in 2019 - an incident that was attributed to pilots having too long a list of pre, mid and post-flight announcements. In the article, he said: “The existence of this weighty Notam (Notice to Air Men) means yet more guff for airmen and women to wade through as they carry out their duty to fly us safely and professionally. And adding to their pre-flight burden is not a zero-risk issue.”
